Control modernization of a metal hose braiding machine

This project pertains to the category “Retrofit”. We updated the outdated control as well as the drive system. For this we used a modern PLC system on an IPC base of “Beckhoff”. The drive system was replaced by a high-performance, frequency regulated motors of “SEW”.

Through this our customer enjoyed a number of advantages,

  • Cost-effective alternative for a new plant (old, robust mechanic with the newest control technology)
  • Higher cycle time
  • Simplest handling across Touch-Panel with integrated Online-manual
  • Multiple accuracy and quality on the final product  
  • Energy saving by newest frequency converter and engine technology
  • Protection against unauthorized use by password protection
  • Saving of final products by recipe management (no production errors by incorrect entry)
  • Piece number control of each product
  • Lesser waste
  • Modern, high-speed Ethercat bus system
